The Love Song - Part 2

She was immersed in pain. Her eyes were still closed. She almost forgot that there was a storm coming up and she had to reach grandma's place on time. Suddenly she heard someone banging on her window. She immediately opened her eyes and saw a teenage boy who was few years younger than her knock the door. She was miffed and rolled the windows down. "What is it?", she snapped.  "You forgot your purse, miss.", he said coolly. She was startled. "What purse? I have mine with me.", she said. "But this has your picture inside.", he said, showing her the purse. She shuddered in fear when she saw the purse. It was a gift she had thrown out with other memories when she had broken up with her ex. "What was it doing here?", she wondered. She grabbed it from his hand and whispered thanks. The boy stared at her with annoyance and left. She looked at the purse in disgust and threw it out from the car. She drove as fast as she could from the parki...

She switched on the radio to wile away the time. "We are expecting heavy downpour tonight .", the weatherman said. She huffed. It wasn't something new in a tropical island.  In midst of journey , traffic started piling up. The four lane highway that once used to be empty, was jam packed with traffic. However the opposite two lane had heavy traffic. She wondered whether it was safe to continue with the journey. Later she realized that she would reach her grandmother's home before the storm started and sensing the traffic on other side, it wasn't wise to head back since she would be stuck in the storm. She continued to drive. The thoughts of cancelled plans revolved in her head. She had been planning since two weeks to meet her friends from Australia who were visiting th...

“What did you do , you fool ?”, the uncle screamed in pain. Blood was oozing from his wounded hand. He dropped the gun and stomped towards Kabir. He grabbed his collar. “After training you in this field and showed you the ways of life, you pay me back this way? Betrayal !”, he growled at him . “I was naive that time. I didn’t understand the value of love and family before she came into my life. I believed what you said and did what you asked me to do. Now I know it was all wrong. I want to change for both of us. I am sick of the person you made me.”, Kabir said. “I haven’t betrayed you. In fact you had used me in your games.”, he  continued. “Bastard ! How dare you call me manipulator ?”, the uncle growled. He was seething in anger. He turned his gaze towards Shaina. “I don’t know what you have seen in her. But I won’t leave her . She opened her eyes. Her head was still throbbing in pain . She looked around. She saw Kabir’s uncle standing in front of her with his new assistant whom she had busted few minutes back. She looked for  Kabir. He wasn’t there. She grew furious and tried to get up. But her hands and legs were  strapped to the bed. “Why the hell have you strapped me for ? Don’t you have guts to fight me ?”, she growled at him. “Come on, Shaina ! I don’t like my prey to be challenging . I love straight kill.  No fights . No drama.”, the uncle spoke calmly like he spoke when he first introduced himself as doctor to her. He got closer to her. “You know what! Even though I like my prey less challenging, I gave you lot of opportunities to let you fight me but you never used it. Now I am bored of this cat and mouse chase.”, he continued. She tried to scratch his face. But the strap held her back. He laughed . “Get me the papers !”, he ordered his accomplice. The young man took out the papers...

Illusions - Part 15

Her sleep was disturbed by sound of door shutting hard.  She woke up with her head still longing for sleep. She stretched her hands and got up. She wondered whether it was wind or anything. She slowly stepped out of her bed and headed towards the door. She opened the door and looked around. The  usually lit corridor was weirdly dark.  There was no one. Before she headed back towards her bed, she wanted a glass of water. One of the housekeeping staff would always place a pitcher of warm water on the table next to her bed. But there was no pitcher of water on her bedside table. She assumed they might have forgotten and headed towards the kitchen. Suddenly she saw some strange shadow running  few meters in front of her. She felt sudden sense of fear inside her. Paranoid, she ditched the idea of going to the kitchen. She turned back towards her room. She sped up her pace and momentarily turned to see if that shadow was still there. Her eyes grew wide when she found ...
