The Bungalow Number 420 - Part 10

Roger stopped only after reaching outside the house. He was out of breath due to exhaustion. He had to get out of this place soon. Before he could run towards the main gate, the ghost appeared again. His heart stopped beating. He was numb. He peed out of fear. "Where do you think you are going?", she growled. He looked around. There was no one. He shivered continuously. Every part of his body ached. "Where are you looking? I am talking to you.", she snarled at him. "Help! Save me !", he screamed. The ghost laughed. "Don't waste your time ! You chose this time to sneak into my house ! You should be aware that there is no one around.", she mocked him. He wanted to hit his head. He should have come bit earlier when sun was up. He wondered what he wad going to do now. She inched towards him closer, making his heart jump out of fright. He knelt down with folded hands and begged, "Please don't kill me ! I haven't done any wrong!&q

Suddenly the house was filled with foul smell. Roger couldn't bear the smell. He immediately covered his nose with his huge hands. But that didn't help. He turned to go outside. At the same time, he saw a dark shadow standing close to him. His heart beat faster. He rubbed his eyes, thinking it was dream. It wasn't a dream. It was real. He was standing in front of the ghost. The ghost was the same shadow that had killed Kevin and others who had tried to occupy the house. "Please don't kill me !", he begged. The ghost grabbed him by his collar. She lifted him slowly from the ground. She stared at him with wide eyes filled with anger. "Who are you ? What are you doing at my house?" , she growled in mixed feminine and masculine tone. "I .. I came here to find any clues regarding the murders.", he stammered. "You don't look like a police.", she mocked him with a laugh. Her laugh scared him. "Please put me down !", he

Roger didn't trust his ex aide. He had been cheated by him many times. He trusted him many times and gave him many chances. But not this time. He remembered the day when he first met him. He thought he was innocent man. His judgement never misled him. Manoj's story seemed to be true. He had told him he needed money to cure his son from cancer. He believed him. He believed the documents he had shown. He had even visited his house when he had got doubt. His family seemed to be like normal family. The son looked sick. Everything looked real. Few days later, he found out that Manoj was a fraud. He had no son. He wasn't even married. He was a conman. He targeted the rich and famous and looted them without their knowledge. Roger was one of his victim. Roger had caught him red hand conning some influential person. He had threatened to disclose him to that influential person and put him behind bars. Manoj begged him not to do that. He had promised him that he would pay off h

The coffee didn’t help. He felt sleepy even after six hours of sleep. He wasn’t used to getting up early. He was night owl. He rubbed his eyes constantly to stay awake. There was nothing strange at the house. Milkman arrived as usual to drop milk packets followed by newspaper boy. Few minutes later maid arrived to fetch them. There was no sign of Rohan or any suspicious activities. Everything was normal. It bored Manoj. His eyes were begging for few minutes sleep. He tried to open them with difficulty. He sipped coffee momentarily to give him energy. Finally he dozed off that lasted for few seconds when he accidentally spilled coffee on his lap. His eyes opened wide out of shock caused by burns from spilt hot coffee. He cursed softly before wiping the mess on his pant. Suddenly he heard someone getting into the back seat of his car. He turned behind to find his ex partner smirking at him . “What the hell are you doing?  Get out of my car!”,  Manoj growled. “I should be asking yo

He had bought five buyers after careful research on their background. All of them would have sold the property to him after coaxing them with money. Unfortunately  before he could plan anything further, they would die mysteriously. He failed to understand what was causing these sudden deaths. He remembered the mutilated bodies of each of them. It was horrific. He suspected Rohan, “Was he behind all these murders?” Rohan was the first one to reach the murder spot. But he didn’t seem to be someone who could do such heinous crimes. But you never know desperation can make anyone criminal. “Maybe he wanted to enjoy all the profits himself.”, Manoj thought. “Even his aunt died mysteriously! He was first to reach the murder spot. The police had suspected him initially. But they didn’t find anything against him. Damn police! The case was closed. Did he bribe the police to shut the case?” he wondered. “I have to check on him. I may have mistaken the person he is. I need to know who he

Rohan hated the clause. As per the clause, he had to share 50% of profits earned from sale of this house with Manoj. By sharing 50% with his friend , he couldn’t enjoy the profits fully. He needed Manoj for bringing the buyers. He had no knowledge of how real estate business worked. He wished he had known this trade then he wouldn’t had to depend on Manoj. He walked out to patio and locked the main door. He got inside the car and started the engine. He looked at the house one last time. It looked beautiful. His childhood memories in this house were fresh in his mind. He had an attachment to this house. He never wanted to sell it. But his business was failing. He needed money. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. Suddenly cold air brushed back of his neck, sending him tingling sensation. “You were a failure and will always be a failure.”, a ghostly voice hissed. He immediately opened his eyes. He turned back to see who it was. There was no one in the back seat. He drove the c

Rohan waited patiently for his guest. He sat on the covered sofa with crossed leg. He checked the messages on his phone while he whistled his favourite song. The messages were mostly related to work. He was the head of company which he had inherited from his aunt. He remembered his aunt. She was patriarch of their family. Everyone looked up to her. He always wanted to be like her. He tried to be like her. But he couldn’t match the aura she had. No one took him seriously the way they looked up to her. People listened to him till she was alive. He stomped one of his feet hard with anger on the ground due to insecurity cropping out with his aunt’s image. The bell rang. He rushed to open the door. It was Manoj. He was couple of years older than Rohan and had been close friends with him for quite sometime. They met for a short project which failed miserably. But their friendship grew within this period. He was his advisor and confidant. “Hey! What’s the matter ?”, Manoj asked nervous

When the first ray of sunlight hit her, a part of her face burnt instantly. She screamed in pain. She immediately left the half eaten body on the ground and ran to the basement of the house. She disappeared before the rays could touch this part of the area. No one arrived at the house until noon. The body was rotting slowly. It spread the smell of decaying meat everywhere. It was impossible for anyone to stay there for even a minute with the smell. The floor was stained by the blood. The furnitures were not scattered or torn. The main door was open wide. It was noon already.A car screeched to halt near the house. The driver angrily got out of the car. He was same age as the dead mutilated man lying on the floor. He mumbled something in anger as he walked towards the main door. His anger diluted his senses that he couldn’t smell the rotten odour. He stopped at the main door.    His heart was on his mouth. The view of dead body with blood flowing out of it and the smell of

The shadow became more visible with every passing minute. The young man looked around for an escape route. There was none. He was trapped. He started walking in reverse as the shadow got closer. His heart beat faster. He shivered and whimpered in fear. He stopped when he felt someone standing close behind him. He turned behind. It was same shadow. He screamed hysterically. He looked front and then turned behind. The shadow was everywhere he turned. He was getting crazy. The shadow got its physical form of woman. But the form was frightening to look. She had big eyes with no pupil. They were burning with fury. Her lips were hanging. Her nose was broken. She looked old. She had long skeleton hands. She wore dark blue silk sari with long sleeved blouse. She growled furiously at him. The man closed his eyes. He couldn’t believe this was happening. With little courage, he spoke, “ Who are you?”. There was no response. Just heavy breathing. “Please let me go.”, he begged while kneelin
