The Love Song - Part 5

He helped her to rise up. She moaned with pain as she rose up. She limped while she tried to walk. "You don't seem good. Let me take you to the doctor to treat your wound.", he said. "No, I am fine. I think I can manage", she smiled weakly. "Fine", he said softly. He didn't insist her with his offer to help. She limped few steps and then fell down.

She cried in pain. He rushed towards her and helped her again to rise up. "At least let me drop you where you are going. With this pace, you will only make pain get worse and you will reach your location tomorrow.", he spoke with tinge of humor. Her college was few more blocks away. She thought she could walk but the pain was accelerating. With hesitation, she accepted his offer.

He smiled slyly as he helped her to walk. He dropped her to her college. She said thanks and before she could ask the name of this kind Samaritan, her friends called her name out excitedly. Her mind was distracted for few minutes. She looked back to ask him his name. He was already gone.

Few weeks passed. She felt better. The wound had healed. She was able to walk normally. Though her mom gave her earful when she had come back home that day. But everything got better soon until one day. As she walked towards the house, she saw the same man who had helped her on that fateful day , arguing with a lady on opposite footpath.

She stopped for few minutes, watching the commotion. The girl was accusing him of cheating while he was protesting and blaming her for imagining things. She thought of intervening but decided to move on. It was his personal space and she didn't know him well for her to get involved in it. She turned back momentarily to see him. He was still arguing with her.

Next day, it was a day off. She was spending quality time with her friends at the cafe. In midst of their gossip and fun, the same Samaritan arrived at her table. One of her friends looked at him oddly. "Hey, how is your leg?", he asked. "Yeah , I am fine.", she replied. "How is your girlfriend? I saw you arguing with her.", she asked casually. His expressions changed into darker. Strangely he replied to her calmly, "I broke up with her." "Oh! I am sorry.", she said as she felt sudden sense of guilt for asking that question.
