Illusions - Part 5

She hadn't noticed how long she had slept.  She opened her eyes slowly and noticed it was already night. It wasn't dark. She was relieved to see everything was normal. The lights were as usual on. She switch off the TV and got up to fetch a glass of water in the kitchen. Her mouth felt dry. 

She smiled as she walked towards the kitchen. The long corridors  looked elegant with bright lights and the red carpets made it look majestic. The kitchen was pitch dark in contrast to other rooms she had come across. It felt strange. She wondered where the housekeepers and butler had gone as they were expected to be in kitchen at this time. She switched on the light and was taken back when she saw the cook cutting the vegetables.   

"My god ! You scared me . I thought no one was there. Why are cutting vegetables in dark ?", she said.  The cook didn't speak. He silently cut the vegetables. She felt weird and walked closer towards the cook. "Are you fine ?", she asked out of concern. He turned towards her. She shivered. His eyes had no pupils. His face was pale like that of dead man. She screamed loudly and ran out of the kitchen. He didn't chase her. Instead he remained put at his place. 

She kept turning back to see whether he was behind her. She didn't see what was in front of her and dashed into it. She looked up to see that monster was holding her. "Not again ! This is just a dream. This isn't true.", she cried as she tried to release herself from the monster's grip. Her strength wasn't enough. She was losing conscious. Slowly she fainted. 

Few hours had passed. She opened her eyes and saw she was lying on Kabir's lap. He was gently brushing her hair. She immediately got up and looked around. Everything was normal now. She started weeping. He wiped her tears and kissed her forehead gently. "It's ok. You are fine now. We will fight this. Everything will be normal.", he whispered into her ears. She smiled weakly.

The night had turned into stormy one. After dinner , she stayed up late while Kabir had already slept.  She looked at the time. It was already past midnight. Finally after few hesitant tries, she took the medication. The reaction of medication was quick. Her eyes felt heavy and she slept soundly . However the danger hadn't stopped. Suddenly she felt something tickle her feet. She nudged that thing. She opened her eyes wide when she felt something drag her. She cried out Kabir's name. He didn't hear. He was sleeping soundly.
