The Curfew - Part 1
Diya was ready. She had rechecked whether she had packed everything for the trip though she wasn't happy staying at a remote village (which happened to be her native) without network or internet for three days. She still had time before her brother in law arrived to pick her up. She quickly took out her laptop and got busy downloading songs and movies for three days. There was one movie that struck her interest. It was horror movie. She opened the file to get glimpse of movie.
Suddenly her phone beeped. She jumped out of fright. She calmed herself down and checked her phone. It was her Obsessive compulsive roommate who was asking her to recheck the house before leaving for zillionth time. She impatiently replied back yes and got back to watch the movie. The movie was about a demonic spirit haunting a young woman stranded in an apartment. She was absorbed into watching the movie.
Suddenly she heard some utensils falling down in kitchen. She screamed and tip toed towards the kitchen to check. Her heart beat faster when she reached the kitchen. It wasn't pitch dark. There was still half an hour for sun to set. She saw a plate and bowl fallen out from dish rack. She smiled when she remembered that she hadn't placed them properly and hence it had fallen. She placed them back properly on the rack.
When she turned around to leave, her heart stopped beating. She hadn't expected her sister to surprise her this way. "What the hell ! You almost scared me to death.", she exclaimed. Her sister, Deepika laughed. "Who gets scared watching horror movie on broad daylight?", Deepika said. She was two years elder than Diya but looked Diya's younger sister than her elder sister.
While walking out of the kitchen, Diya asked, "How did you get in ?" Deepika playfully hit her on her shoulder and replied, "Miss Forgetful, you had forgotten to lock the door." Diya remembered closing the door in hurry when her roommate left. She saw her brother in law Rohan busy talking to one of his client on the phone. When he saw her, he waved at her.
"He always on the phone. Anyway, did you finish packing?", Deepika asked. "Yeah !", Diya replied disinterestedly. "But do I need to be there, Akka? It's just small pooja and how is my presence going to be useful there?", she continued. "Come on , Diya ! Not again ! Even I am not involved in that pooja. But as a family, we need to be there. Imagine this as small getaway with family.", Deepika said. Diya cringed. "What kind of getaway where you stay inside the house in fear after 10 in the night ?", she whispered.
