The Curfew - Part 3
The sisters's native was located at outskirts of a town called Yellapur near Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka. Their mom , Roopa was eagerly waiting for their arrival. She whispered a prayer, "Please God, make them arrive before 10 pm.". Suddenly she felt someone nudge her on her shoulder. She turned behind. It was her sister in law, Ganga. "What is bothering you ?", she asked. Roopa stayed quiet for several minutes before she couldn't control her emotions. "I told them several times. Start in the morning. These kids never listen.", she wailed.
Ganga consoled her, "Don't worry ! They will be fine." "How can I not worry ? You heard the horror stories that have occurred here. That next door KD Bhat lost his only son. His son was only few minutes close to his house. If he had arrived early, he would have been alive. Those dreadful demons massacred him mercilessly.", Roopa didn't seem to control her tears. "These children think it's just an rumor to create fear among the people. They don't know the ferocity of those demons.", she continued.
"Nothing will happen to those kids. They will arrive safe and sound. Trust the power of God.", her sister in law said. Roopa didn't say anything. She trusted God but like every mother she couldn't stop worrying about her kids. She smiled weakly, wiped away her tears and got back to work.
Diya was constantly bothering Deepika to change the songs from the music player. "Enough ! I am tired. I won't change the song.", Deepika protested. "Come on, Akka ! You aren't even driving.", Diya teased her. "Then you come and sit here. I will sit back.", Deepika spoke firmly. "Fine ! Bhava, please stop the car. I will sit front.", Diya spoke. "I have no problem. But what will you do if you see spooky thing next to your window when we are almost reaching home? You can't jump to my side as I will be driving.", Rohan joked.
Diya eyes grew wide thinking about that and said, " No problem. I am fine here." Deepika playfully hit her husband's shoulder. "Don't joke about the ghosts.", she said lightly. "We are now almost outside the city. Let's stop for quick dinner.", he said stopping near a deluxe restaurant."I have packed some food for us. We can have that.", Deepika said nervously. "Seriously ! We would had to stop anyway to eat. Why did you bother to pack food?", Rohan spoke irritatedly. Deepika cringed and crossed her arms. Rohan got closer to his wife and hugged her. "We will reach before the curfew, darling . Don't worry. You relax and enjoy.", he whispered to her ears.
