A week passed. The flames had died down. The house was intact except for the hall. The walls in the hall had turned black. Every furniture had burnt badly. The bodies were charred. The smell of the badly burnt bodies had caused people to reach the spot. Crowd of people stood outside waiting for the police to arrive.
They spoke in whisper. Each one had his/her theory of what could have happened. Some were in view that house had bad omen. Anyone who stayed in this for a night always died. Police arrived. Everyone quietened as they saw them venturing inside to investigate the cause of death.
As they entered the house, there was strong smell of badly burnt bodies. One of investigating officer almost puked due to the smell. "What could be the cause? There is no sign of any electric shortcut or gas leak. The house isn't affected much.", a senior officer said. "We will get to know only after the autopsy of the body.", a junior officer replied.
The body was sent for autopsy. The identities were discovered.The cause of death was termed as burn for one while head injury caused the death for the other. But the police weren't able to find how the fire occurred and burnt the bodies. After several months of investigating, they could only find out that Manoj was a conman and Rohan was hiding bodies of buyers in the basement.
After several months of investigations, the case had dead end. They couldn't find any clue that could help them solve the case. They closed it by making Rohan the culprit behind the death of Manoj and termed his death as suicide.
The house stood isolated. No one wanted to take any property next to the house. No one took the road passing the house after sunset. Few who dared to pass that road could feel strange eeriness surrounding that place. They sometimes found a dark shadow standing in the patio of house.
