Flight EK 666 - Part 4

Strong smell of rotten meat woke her up. She had almost puked on the seat. She turned around to see where it was coming. A handsome man of mid thirties was keeping his bag on overhead rack. The smell disappeared suddenly. She stared at him delightfully. He looked at her at the same time. He closed the rack and took his seat next to her.

He shifted his gaze to seat pouch ahead of him and took out one of magazines inside the pouch. She watched him intently with a smile. She hadn't seen any so attractive. She realized that she had been staring at him too long and turned towards the window. She watched outside. The sky was clear. There were other planes that were either parking or departing to particular destination.

She turned again to see her co- passenger was busy reading the magazine. She sat silently for few minutes. She pressed the button on the side of arm rest to recline the seat. She closed her eyes for sometime. She was in deep sleep. The plane was in taxi mode. Safety instruction was demonstrated. The air hostess began her final check on whether the passengers had switched off their phones and had their seat belts on. When she found Tina had not followed the protocol, she called her.

Tina didn't wake up. Finally the air hostess nudged her after failed attempts to wake her up. She woke up suddenly. She stared at air hostess disappointingly. "Please press the button to recline your seat back to normal position and put on your seat belts. We are about to fly, Ma'am.", the air hostess said sternly. Tina was annoyed but she followed her instructions. She had never met such annoying air hostess in her life. She was going to report this to airline company once she reached.

She looked outside as the plane slowly moved towards the runway. As the plane got nearer to the end of runway, it accelerated the speed. It moved upwards towards the space. The ground looked tinier as it moved upward.  As it moved to higher altitudes, she heard strong buzzing noise suddenly. She convinced herself that it was just normal to feel that way when in flight. But the sound didn't reduce. It got higher and higher. She felt sharp pain in the ear.

She thought she would not be able to bear the pain. She raised her arms to press button to call the air hostess. The sound automatically stopped and the pain reduced. "You need something.", a deep masculine spoke. It was her co passenger who had finally broke his silence.
