The Uber Ride - Part 2

It was midnight. He had one last ride to take before he called it a night. He had recovered half of expenditure he had incurred during the date. He was tired. He cracked his knuckles by stretching both hands while remembering the number of long trips he had taken. The Uber app notification beeped on his phone. He looked at his phone.

He was relieved that it was going to be last ride. He accepted the request. He checked again to see pick up location of passenger. It was a graveyard. It sent shivers down his spine. He remembered when his friend had narrated a nail biting encounter of his cousin during a ride at highway next to graveyard. He canceled the ride, messaging apology to passenger. He waited patiently for another ride request.

His eyes closed for sometime. Another Uber notification beeped. It was request from the same passenger. He canceled it immediately. An hour passed by. He stopped his car at the nearest 24 hour cafe where he grabbed a coffee. He was sipping his coffee when Uber notification beeped on his phone. He checked again. It was same passenger. He was irritated. He cancelled it.

He walked back to his car after caffeine break. He decided to wait for another half an hour. His phone beeped. It was Uber notification. He was about to cancel it when he checked. It was another passenger and pick up location was not a graveyard. He was relieved. He accepted the request immediately.

He drove to the pick up location quicker than the estimated time since there was no traffic. It was posh five star hotel. He found his passenger waiting at the entrance of the hotel. The passenger seemed like an European tourist on business trip. Lee was happy at the thought of dropping the passenger off to the airport. That meant huge fare.

But his happiness turned bitter when he swiped the Start button. He was supposed to drop the person off to graveyard. He wondered what business a foreigner had in a graveyard. "Sir, your drop point is graveyard?", he asked casually. "Yes, is there any problem?", the passenger replied with annoyance. Lee's face turned red with embarrassment. "I didn't mean to hurt you, Sir. I just wanted to confirm.", he said sheepishly. The passenger smiled and said, "It's okay. I understand it's that time of hour and you are probably wondering what man has got to do at the graveyard during this hour. The place I want to go is not listed in Google map. So I chose the nearest location." Lee smiled and started the ride.
