Flight EK 666 - Part 7
It was one sided chat. It was mostly her who spoke while he listened to her intently. She spoke about her family - her mother and brother, apple of her eyes. She spoke about her work and project. When she had nothing to say, she said casually, "My friends complain that I talk too much. Tell me something about yourself.".
He looked at her with blank eyes. It was like as someone held his tongue. Tina felt he wasn't interested in sharing his story. So she shifted her gaze towards the window. The sky was pitch black with few passing clouds. There was no beginning or end. It looked like as if the earth had no land and was covered by sky. Her mind was immersed into the depth of blank sky.
A voice woke her up to the reality. "I am sorry. I don't have a cheerful family like you. I lost my parents early during my childhood. I have good life but my soul still wanders in search of belongingness.". She stared at his empty eyes which was now filled with pain. She touched his hand. They were strangely cold. She immediately released her hand from his.
"I am sorry for your loss. But you can count on me as a friend even after this flight. You can reach me whenever you need me.", she said sweetly. "Thanks ! ", he said politely. She smiled and continued chatting about her life. She changed the mood with her funny jokes. She brightened her new friend's cold face.
She always did that. She couldn't see people sad around her. To keep everyone happy was her duty. She never failed in her duty. An hour passed swiftly. Dinner was being served.
The stewardess arrived at their seat. She served meal and drinks as ordered by Tom. Tina stared at her. There was something odd in her behaviour. She was looking strange. There was no smile on her face as expected on stewardess. Her eyes were blank and she served the food robotically. Her words were cold as she spoke. Tina quickly replied her preferences. The stewardess quickly served her meal.
